It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of the passing of former New Orleans Saints defensive coordinator Monte Kiffin at the age of 84.
The announcement was made by Ole Miss, where his son Lane Kiffin serves as the head coach, through their social media channels.
Monte Kiffin peacefully passed away in Oxford at the age of 84, surrounded by his loved ones. His grandson Knox mentioned that he is now free of pain and watching over us from above. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Kiffin family during this difficult time.

Monte Kiffin served as the Saints defensive coordinator in 1995 under Jim Mora. He had a successful 16-year career as an NFL coach, with 13 of those years spent with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Kiffin’s innovative Tampa-2 defensive system played a crucial role in the Buccaneers’ Super Bowl victory in 2003 against the Oakland Raiders. He is a revered member of the Buccaneers Ring of Honor.
Our deepest condolences and prayers are with Kiffin’s family during this challenging time.
