Fans are rallying behind Dustin Poirier after Paddy Pimblett’s comments about wanting to fight and defeat the former interim lightweight champion.
Leading up to Pimblett’s upcoming co-main event against Michael Chandler at UFC 314 on April 12 in Miami, he criticized Poirier for considering retirement. Pimblett called Poirier “an idiot” for still being competitive, especially after his close fight against Islam Makhachev last June.
Pimblett even went as far as to say, “I think I beat Dustin Poirier, so I’d love to fight him.” If Pimblett can hand Chandler his third straight loss, a matchup with Poirier could be justified.
However, it seems like fans are not on board with Pimblett’s bold predictions or his criticism of Poirier’s retirement plans.
