UFC 315: Jack Della Maddalena talks Belal Muhammad, Islam Makhachev
UFC 315 headliner Jack Della Maddalena talks to MMA Junkie’s Mike Bohn ahead off his welterweight title fight vs. Belal Muhammad in Montreal.
Jack Della Maddalena is gearing up for the fight of a lifetime as he prepares to face Belal Muhammad at UFC 315. The stakes are high, but Della Maddalena is ready to seize the moment.
Della Maddalena (17-2 MMA, 7-0 UFC) is set to challenge Muhammad (24-3 MMA, 15-3 UFC) for the welterweight title at Bell Centre in Montreal. A win would make him the first Australian to hold the prestigious belt previously worn by legends like Georges St-Pierre, Matt Hughes, and Kamaru Usman.
Originally, Muhammad was slated to defend his title against Shavkat Rakhmonov, but an injury changed the course of events, leading to Della Maddalena stepping in. Despite coming back from a lengthy hiatus, the 28-year-old fighter is eager to shine.
“I can’t wait to get back in the octagon,” Della Maddalena expressed. “I thrive on competition, and I’m determined to secure the win and claim the championship belt by defeating Belal.”
With an impressive streak of 17 consecutive victories, including 14 by knockout, Della Maddalena is known for his striking power. However, he acknowledges Muhammad’s grappling skills and has prepared diligently for all possible scenarios.
“My focus is on defending against the takedown,” Della Maddalena explained. “I believe I have the ability to prevent it. If I find myself on the ground, I’m ready to attack and get back on my feet. Stopping the takedown is crucial for me to control the fight.”
Despite his intention to dominate the fight, Della Maddalena remains cautious and respects his opponent’s abilities. He anticipates a competitive match but is confident in his ability to emerge victorious.
“Expect a high-level MMA showdown,” Della Maddalena stated. “Both Belal and I are determined to win, but I’m confident in my skills. It’s going to be an intense battle, and I aim to come out on top.”
“I envision a knockout victory and claiming the belt. That’s the perfect scenario for me,” Della Maddalena added.
