Former Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere has been appointed as the interim head coach of Norwich City for the final two games of the Championship season. This decision comes after the Canaries parted ways with head coach Johannes Hoff Thorup.
Norwich City has been struggling in the Championship, currently sitting in 14th place after a series of poor performances. Hoff Thorup, who was appointed last May on a three-year deal, has been relieved of his duties along with his assistant Glen Riddersholm.
Sporting director Ben Knapper explained the decision, stating, “Whilst we made this appointment with a long-term focus and in line with our wider club strategy and direction, unfortunately recent results and performances have deemed it necessary for us to make a change.”
Wilshere, known for his time at Arsenal where he won two FA Cups and earned 34 caps for England, has had a career plagued by injuries. He joined Norwich City as a coach last year and will now take on the role of interim head coach.
In a unique twist, Wilshere’s former Arsenal teammate Aaron Ramsey is also embarking on his managerial career, having recently taken charge at Cardiff City. The two will face each other on the final day of the season, with Ramsey aiming to guide Cardiff City to safety.
