When Joaquin Buckley stunned the MMA world with his incredible spinning kick knockout of Impa Kasanganay, it seemed like a moment that would never be replicated. However, at XFC 52 in Iowa City, Iowa, pro debutant Jaron Lothrop did the impossible by recreating the knockout in a nearly identical fashion.
During the fight, Lothrop (1-0) had his left kick caught by his opponent Yevgeni Shinkarevsky (2-1) in the late stages of Round 1. Undeterred, Lothrop executed a jump, spin, and delivered a devastating kick straight to Shinkarevsky’s face.
Despite being hurt, Shinkarevsky was not immediately knocked out. Lothrop capitalized on the opportunity, following up with punches to finish the fight.
