Following the Cincinnati Bengals’ surprising loss to the New England Patriots, footage emerged of star quarterback Joe Burrow frequently flexing his wrist during the game. Despite undergoing wrist surgery last season, Burrow was seen adjusting his wrist on the sidelines and a video of him simply grabbing a water bottle sparked speculation online.

In a press conference on Wednesday, Burrow dismissed any suggestions that his wrist was affecting his performance negatively.

When asked if his wrist was hindering his ability to throw deep passes, Burrow confidently stated, “No, absolutely not.”

While the Bengals’ offense lacked deep throws in Week 1, Burrow attributed this to the Patriots’ strong defense and his strategy of “taking what the defense gives me.”

Addressing the videos of him flexing his wrist, Burrow explained that it is a necessary part of his recovery process.

Burrow elaborated, “That’s part of ligament injuries. If you don’t move it, you’re going to lose it, so I’m always keeping it loose and maintaining my mobility.”

One clip showed Burrow casually picking up a water bottle, leading to speculation about his wrist. When questioned about this, Burrow seemed puzzled.

“I picked it up weird?” Burrow questioned with a chuckle. “I don’t know, I was just drinking water.”

Looking ahead to the upcoming game against the Kansas City Chiefs, Burrow refuses to blame his wrist for any performance issues. With playoff implications on the line, Burrow and the team must elevate their game to secure a victory at Arrowhead Stadium.
