Jose Mourinho issued 3-game suspension for grabbing Galatasaray coach’s nose after Istanbul derby

Jose Mourinho has been handed a three-game suspension by the Turkish Football Federation for grabbing the nose of Galatasaray coach Okan Buruk after the Istanbul derby on Wednesday. In addition to the suspension, Mourinho has been fined approximately $7,700 for his actions.

The incident occurred during stoppage time of the Turkish Cup quarterfinal match between Fenerbahçe and Galatasaray, which saw a scuffle break out resulting in three players being ejected. Following the match, Mourinho confronted Buruk and pinched his nose, leading to the disciplinary action from the TFF.

As a result of the suspension, Mourinho will be banned from entering the dressing room and the bench for three official matches against Trabzonspor, Sivasspor, and Kayserispor.

Despite the controversy, Fenerbahçe remains in second place in the Süper Lig, trailing Galatasaray by six points.

This is not the first time Mourinho has faced disciplinary action during his first season in the Turkish soccer league. He previously received a four-game suspension and a $42,000 fine for criticizing officials after a match against Galatasaray in February.

Additionally, Galatasaray accused Mourinho of making racist remarks towards their players, leading to a legal battle between the two clubs.

Fenerbahçe will continue their season without Mourinho on the sidelines for the upcoming matches, including the clash against Trabzonspor on Sunday.
