Fenerbahce coach Jose Mourinho has expressed his frustration with the refereeing in the Turkish Super Lig, describing the league as operating in a “toxic” environment.
Mourinho’s comments were prompted by Galatasaray’s controversial 2-1 win over Goztepe, a result that extended their lead at the top of the table to eight points.
Goztepe, unhappy with the officiating in the match, issued a statement calling for immediate action and the establishment of a temporary foreign referee system, stating their desire for a “League of Deserved Winners.”
Following Fenerbahce’s 2-1 victory against Hatayspor, Mourinho weighed in on the controversy, expressing his dismay at the situation.
He criticized the league for the perceived injustices, stating, “Everybody was saying the same thing, scandal, scandal. I learned a new word [in Turkish].”
“I never saw anything like this before, it’s a scandal” 💬

Mourinho highlighted the systemic issues in the league, emphasizing the need for change beyond individual clubs.
He also criticized the officiating in Fenerbahce’s recent matches, pointing out missed calls that he believed disadvantaged his team.
Since joining Fenerbahce with the goal of winning the league title, Mourinho’s critique of the refereeing and league structure indicates he sees significant obstacles that must be addressed for success.
