PGA Tour legend Juan “Chi Chi” Rodriguez passed away at the age of 88, as confirmed by the league.

Known for his incredible talent on the golf course, Rodriguez was also praised for his philanthropic endeavors. PGA Tour commissioner Jay Monahan expressed his condolences to the Rodriguez family, highlighting Chi Chi’s colorful personality and dedication to giving back.

Born in Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico, Rodriguez’s golf journey began by hitting tin cans with sticks before he went on to achieve great success in the sport. With multiple wins on the PGA Tour and PGA Tour Champions, Rodriguez’s impact on the game was undeniable.

Off the course, Rodriguez’s charismatic and entertaining style of play made him a fan favorite. From his famous “matador routine” to his quirky celebrations, he always aimed to give spectators something extra to enjoy.

Following his retirement from competitive golf, Rodriguez continued his charitable work through his youth foundation and various community projects. His legacy as a golfing icon and humanitarian will forever be remembered.
