Juan Soto quickly won over New York Mets fans during the team’s spring training opener against the Houston Astros. In his first at-bat, Soto hit a home run off pitcher Colton Gordon, sending the ball 426 feet over the center-field wall at Clover Park. This impressive blast gave the Mets an early lead in the game.
In his second at-bat, Soto hit into a fielder’s choice that allowed Brett Baty to score, extending the Mets’ lead to 3-0. Baty, who recently received a new Chevy Tahoe from Soto, crossed home plate thanks to the $765 million man’s contribution.
Since his debut with the Washington Nationals in 2018, Soto has accumulated 179 career home runs. In the past two seasons with the San Diego Padres and New York Yankees, the 26-year-old slugger has hit a total of 63 home runs and driven in 218 runs.
With his impressive performance batting between Francisco Lindor and Pete Alonso, Soto has made a strong impact early on. Mets fans are excited to see more highlights like this as the season progresses.
