Brad Tavares will not be stepping into the octagon as planned, breaking a UFC record in the process.
Sources have confirmed that Jun Yong Park has withdrawn from his fight with Tavares due to a medical issue. The fight was supposed to be the co-main event for UFC Vegas 94, with both fighters successfully weighing in earlier today.
The UFC has officially announced the cancellation of the bout, although the specific details of the medical issue have not been disclosed.
This fight would have marked Tavares’ 25th appearance in the UFC, setting a new record for the middleweight division and surpassing Michael Bisping. It is unclear whether the fight will be rescheduled or if new opponents will be arranged for both fighters.
Park’s last fight was in December, where he suffered a split decision loss to Andre Muniz, ending a four-fight win streak. He has yet to compete in 2024.
Despite this setback, UFC Vegas 94 will continue with 11 scheduled fights.
