Jurickson Profar signs 3-year, $42M deal with Atlanta Braves

Atlanta Braves have inked a three-year, $42 million agreement with outfielder Jurickson Profar, as announced by the team on Thursday.

Profar, ranked No. 15 on Yahoo Sports’ top 50 MLB free agent list, is set to receive $12 million in 2025 and $15 million in both 2026 and 2027, per the Braves.

An interesting aspect of the contract is Profar’s commitment to donating 1% of his salary to the Atlanta Braves Foundation, which focuses on fostering community through baseball, engaging vulnerable populations, and enhancing equity and access in various areas for children, families, and communities.

During his time with the San Diego Padres last season, Profar had a standout performance, boasting a .280 batting average, 24 home runs, 85 RBIs, and 10 stolen bases. He led National League left fielders with a 4.3 fWAR and ranked highly in expected wOBA (.364) and expected batting average (.283). Additionally, he was the sixth-best hitter by wRC+ in the NL.

Profar’s exceptional play in the outfield earned him a spot on the NL All-Star team, while his offensive contributions earned him a Silver Slugger award. He will now be part of an Atlanta outfield that includes Michael Harris II and Ronald Acuña Jr., who is making his comeback from a torn ACL.

Profar kicked off his MLB journey with the Texas Rangers before moving on to the Oakland A’s in 2019. He then spent time with the Padres from 2020 to 2023, followed by a brief stint with the Colorado Rockies. After being released in August of that season, he rejoined the Padres.
