Justin Simmons to visit the Saints on Wednesday

Denver Broncos’ former safety, Justin Simmons, is set to visit the New Orleans Saints in Irvine, California on Wednesday, as reported by Nick Underhill.

Simmons, aged 30, is a notable free agent following his surprising departure from the Broncos. In his eight seasons with Denver, he has earned four Second-Team All-Pro selections, two Pro Bowl appearances, and has amassed 30 interceptions.

Having recently concluded a successful 2023 season as a Second-Team All-Pro, Simmons recorded 3 interceptions, 2 forced fumbles, and 70 tackles (53 solo).

Simmons shares a connection with some figures in the Saints organization, having previously played under defensive coordinator Joe Woods at the Broncos. The two were seen conversing during the HBCU Legacy Bowl game earlier this year.

The Saints currently have Jordan Howden as their starting free safety, a second-year player with a promising future. However, the team’s desire to compete for a Super Bowl title may prompt them to sign the experienced All-Pro, especially given Simmons’ availability close to the start of the season.

Despite already boasting a strong defense, the Saints have bolstered their unit with additions like defensive end Chase Young and linebacker Willie Gay Jr. Adding Simmons would further enhance their formidable defense.
