Los Angeles Lakers star Anthony Davis made a spectacular block on Sunday night, but it came with a painful consequence.
After blocking Jakob Poeltl of the Toronto Raptors at the rim, Davis was hit in the eye by Poeltl’s accidental contact. Davis had to leave the game in the fourth quarter due to the eye injury, finishing with 22 points and four rebounds.
This isn’t the first time Davis has dealt with an eye injury. Last season, he suffered a corneal abrasion in the same eye and had to miss some games as a result.
Despite Davis’ absence, the Lakers managed to secure a 123-103 victory over the Raptors. LeBron James recorded a triple-double with 19 points, 16 assists, and 10 rebounds. Austin Reaves and D’Angelo Russell also contributed to the win.
The Lakers have now won two consecutive games and hold a 6-4 record for the season. Their next game will be against the Memphis Grizzlies on Wednesday night.
