Cris Cyborg is set to make her PFL debut this Saturday with an impressive 11-fight winning streak in MMA and boxing combined. While she has stopped six opponents with strikes, her upcoming opponent Larissa Pacheco is known for her knockout power.
Pacheco, a two-division PFL champion, has secured 11 of her 23 MMA victories by knockout, including two sub-minute finishes in the 2023 season. Cyborg, on the other hand, has a 2-0 record in boxing this year against lesser opponents. Despite Cyborg’s jiu-jitsu black belt and experience in ADCC, Pacheco anticipates a stand-up battle in Saudi Arabia.
In an interview with MMA Fighting, Pacheco revealed her training strategy focused on improving herself rather than studying her opponent. She emphasized being prepared in all areas and fixing any weaknesses in her game. Pacheco expressed readiness for any surprises Cyborg may bring to the fight.
While the two fighters have crossed paths at the UFC Performance Institute, Pacheco clarified any misunderstandings with Cyborg regarding comments made in an interview. She emphasized respect towards her opponents and a commitment to professionalism inside and outside the cage.
With no animosity between them, Pacheco promises an exciting showdown in Riyadh, ensuring fans won’t be disappointed with the action in the cage.
“I guarantee you that people won’t regret watching this fight,” Pacheco said. “Just match my style with hers and see what we do when we’re in the cage and there’s nothing else left to be said.”
