Liverpool has officially announced that three Women’s Super League matches will be held at Anfield in the 2024/25 season. This move comes after the conclusion of the previous campaign in May, where the team confirmed a stadium change. Matt Beard’s squad will be moving from Tranmere Rovers’ Prenton Park, their home since 2018, to the Totally Wicked Stadium in St Helens for the majority of their home games.
In an exciting development, Liverpool has confirmed that three fixtures will now be played at Anfield, a significant increase from the one match held there last season. The Merseyside derby against Everton drew 23,000 supporters, showcasing the potential of hosting games at Anfield.
For the 2024/25 season, Liverpool’s league matches against Manchester City on October 13, Manchester United on March 16, and Everton on May 4 will take place at Anfield. The club has also introduced a ‘hat-trick package’ where fans can purchase one ticket to access all three games.
Susan Black, Liverpool’s director of communications and executive director, expressed her excitement about hosting more WSL games at Anfield next season. She highlighted the positive impact of having a new home stadium and more games at Anfield for both the players and fans.
Looking ahead, Beard’s team aims to build on their fourth-place finish in the WSL last season and secure European qualification. The upcoming season promises to be an exciting chapter for Liverpool’s women’s first team as they continue to progress on their journey.
