Jake Paul appears to have shifted his focus away from a potential matchup with KSI.
This revelation came from Logan Paul during a recent episode of the Impaulsive podcast, where he expressed his desire to organize the fight between his brother and KSI. Despite their past boxing bouts and subsequent friendship, Jake seems uninterested in facing KSI again, even as the latter gears up for a fight against Dillon Danis in Misfits Boxing.
Following the collapse of a potential match against Canelo Alvarez, Jake is still awaiting his next opponent. Logan explained that Jake feels he has outgrown the influencer boxing scene and does not see KSI as a worthy opponent.
Logan shared on the podcast, “I’m trying so hard to make it happen. There’s a weight issue at the moment. Jake is heavier than KSI. It’s a challenge.”
He continued, “[Jake] believes he has moved past influencer boxing and still considers KSI as an influencer boxer.”
While Jake initially gained fame through influencer boxing, he has expressed aspirations of becoming a world champion and taking his career more seriously.
Despite this, Jake has yet to face any ranked opponents and his only loss was against Tommy Fury. His recent matches have been against retired UFC fighters like Tyron Woodley and Nate Diaz, as well as an exhibition match against Mike Tyson.
Logan suggested that Jake’s weight may be a significant factor preventing the fight with KSI from happening.
He explained, “Jake is not willing to drop to a weight where he feels uncomfortable just to please a YouTube audience. He recently had one of the most-watched sporting events in history with his fight against Tyson.”
Logan added, “He refuses to go below 192.5 pounds. He has made it clear that he will not fight at 190 pounds again. He has bulked up and is focused on other things.”
Jake is now gearing up for the premiere of his reality show Paul American, set to debut on Max on March 27, with Logan also making an appearance.
