Manchester United are set to appoint Ruben Amorim as their next manager after reaching a full agreement with Sporting CP.
Amorim is expected to replace Erik ten Hag, who was recently dismissed, and United has expressed their intentions by triggering his release clause at Sporting.
According to The Telegraph, United will pay €10m (£8.3m) to secure Amorim’s services and are also willing to compensate Sporting for some of his coaching staff.
Amorim is likely to bring five members of his backroom staff to Old Trafford, including assistants Carlos Fernandes, Adelio Candido, and Emanuel Ferro, along with goalkeeping coach Jorge Vital and fitness coach Paulo Barreira.
Reports suggest that Amorim will sign a contract until the end of the 2026/27 season, with an option for an additional year.
INEOS chief Sir Dave Brailsford seemingly confirmed United’s move for Amorim, as a video circulated on social media where Brailsford indicates that “it’s done” when asked about the situation.
However, Portuguese media outlets have disputed these claims. Record and A BOLA emphasize that United has not yet made the required payment to confidently announce an agreement with Amorim, although no significant obstacles are anticipated.
