NASCAR’s Cup Series championship race at Phoenix was red-flagged on lap 69 due to an unexpected incident involving the pace car.
During a restart after the first stage break, the pace car made a miscalculation and collided with the sand barrels at the end of pit road, causing a temporary halt in the race.
Despite the mishap, the pace car sustained minor damage, while the barrels required repair before the race could resume. At the time of the red flag, Chase Elliott led the race, followed by Christopher Bell and the other championship contenders.
Fortunately, the delay lasted briefly, allowing the race to recommence smoothly. Ultimately, Joey Logano emerged victorious, securing his third Cup Series title after leading the final laps and fending off fierce competition.
