One of NASCAR’s most anticipated moves has been confirmed.
Ryan Preece has signed on to drive a third car for Roush Fenway Keselowski Racing in the upcoming 2025 season. Joining Brad Keselowski and Chris Buescher, Preece’s addition marks RFK’s return to fielding three full-time cars for the first time in several years.
Notably, Preece’s move to RFK also brings along longtime NASCAR sponsor Kroger, who has been a staple sponsor at JTG-Daugherty Racing since 2010. Kroger and its affiliated brands are set to sponsor all three of RFK’s cars at various points throughout the 2025 season.
Meanwhile, JTG-Daugherty Racing will continue competing in 2025 with Ricky Stenhouse Jr. behind the wheel and an upcoming sponsorship deal to be announced.
Preece’s transition to RFK follows his two-season stint at Stewart-Haas Racing, after previously racing full-time for three seasons at JTG-Daugherty from 2019-2021. With 187 career Cup Series starts under his belt, the 34-year-old driver boasts four top-five finishes and 16 top-10s.
Despite two top-five finishes during his time at SHR, Preece found himself in need of a new ride for the 2025 season following SHR’s decision to cease operations at the end of 2024. As a result, the team announced that co-owner Gene Haas would continue with a one-car team moving forward.
As for the current season, Cole Custer is slated to join Haas Racing next year as the team sells off three of its charters. Notably, RFK’s new car is expected to acquire a charter from Rick Ware Racing, as reported by the Athletic.
RFK has shown improvement over the past couple of seasons, securing five wins. Chris Buescher has claimed four of those victories, with Brad Keselowski also making his mark with a playoff-qualifying win at Darlington earlier this year.
In the 2024 season, Keselowski finished 13th in the points standings, a slight dip from his eighth-place finish the previous year. Buescher, on the other hand, finished 17th as the highest non-playoff driver after a seventh-place finish in 2023.
