Get ready for the unofficial start to the NASCAR season! The Clash on Sunday night at Bowman-Gray Stadium in Winston-Salem, North Carolina is sure to be an exciting event. This year, the race moves to the quarter-mile track after being held at the Los Angeles Coliseum for the past three years.
Bowman-Gray is known for its intense bumper-to-bumper racing and the occasional conflicts between drivers. While we may not see any major confrontations on Sunday, you can expect some close racing and maybe a little contact.
The main event on Sunday will consist of a 200-lap race featuring 23 of the 39 cars entered. Only green-flag laps will count towards the total, so if there are a lot of crashes and cautions, the race could be a lengthy one.
Drivers have been divided into three practice groups based on their owners’ points position in the 2024 season. Each group will have a chance to qualify for the heat races, with the top five drivers from each heat advancing to the main event.
Don’t miss the action on Saturday as practices begin at 6 p.m. ET, followed by the heat races at 8:30 p.m. FS1 will have TV coverage of the event.
In addition to the heat races, there will be a last-chance qualifier race on Sunday afternoon to determine the final starting spots for the main event. The top two finishers in the last-chance qualifier will secure starting positions, with the 23rd spot going to the highest-finishing driver from last year’s points standings who didn’t make it through the heats.
With the Daytona 500 just around the corner on Feb. 16, the Clash at Bowman-Gray Stadium is the perfect way to kick off the NASCAR season. Don’t miss out on all the action!
