Zane Smith has officially returned to Front Row Motorsports.
After finalizing the purchase of a charter from Stewart-Haas Racing, the team announced that Smith would be driving a third NASCAR Cup Series car for them in 2025. This announcement comes after a successful season for Smith in 2022, where he won the Truck Series title for Front Row Motorsports with four race wins and 19 top-10 finishes.
In 2024, Smith made the move to the Cup Series with Spire Motorsports after a season in the Truck Series. Despite facing challenges throughout the season, Smith managed to secure two top-five finishes and five top-10 finishes.
Front Row Motorsports is expanding back to three cars for the upcoming season, with Smith joining Todd Gilliland and Noah Gragson on the team. This expansion comes as part of the team’s efforts to strengthen its presence in the Cup Series.
Additionally, both FRM and 23XI Racing have made moves to purchase charters from SHR, signaling their commitment to competing at the highest level of NASCAR. Despite facing legal hurdles with NASCAR over the new charter agreement, both teams have received a preliminary injunction that allows them to proceed with their charter purchases for the 2025 season.
