The NBA has released the schedule for the NBA Cup group play in the upcoming season, with exciting matchups set to begin on Nov. 12. Similar to last season’s In-Season Tournament, all 30 teams have been randomly grouped into six groups of five based on their previous season’s performance. The tournament will feature each team playing the others in their group once on “Cup Nights,” which will take place on Tuesdays and Fridays between Nov. 12 and Dec. 3.
After the group stage, the six group winners will advance to the knockout rounds along with two “wild card” teams – one from each conference. The knockout rounds will be played in a single-elimination format starting on Dec. 10, with the semifinals and championship games set to be held in Las Vegas on Dec. 14 and Dec. 17.
The results of the NBA Cup games will count towards the regular-season records and impact playoff seeding. However, winning the NBA Cup does not guarantee any advantages in the postseason. The prize money for the winning and second-place teams will be split among the players, with increased prizes this season due to the new collective bargaining agreement.
In addition to the monetary rewards, there will be a Most Valuable Player award and an all-tournament team for the NBA Cup. The article provides a list of nationally televised games scheduled for the group play phase of the NBA Cup for the 2024-25 season.
