Exciting News: Netflix and FIFA have announced a groundbreaking partnership to broadcast the 2027 and 2031 Women’s World Cups on the streaming service!
This exclusive deal, as revealed by FIFA, will cover all games of both tournaments in English and Spanish, with no plans to sublicense the rights to traditional TV channels.
This marks a significant milestone as it will be the first time that any World Cup matches, whether men’s or women’s, will be shown in the U.S. solely on a digital streaming platform, rather than on linear TV.
“This historic agreement will give fans in the U.S. unprecedented access to every live match and immersive coverage, including special studio programs featuring top celebrities,” FIFA stated in a press release.
Additionally, FIFA shared that, along with live broadcasts, Netflix will create exclusive documentary series leading up to both tournaments, highlighting the journeys of the world’s top players and the global advancement of women’s football.
The 2027 Women’s World Cup is scheduled to take place in Brazil, while the host for the 2031 tournament is yet to be determined, with the United States and Mexico expected to bid.
