Recently, a video has surfaced showing Premier League referee David Coote allegedly snorting a white substance while staying at a hotel during Euro 2024. The clip, reportedly taken on July 6, shows Coote using a rolled-up US bank note to snort the substance.

The video was said to have been filmed in Coote’s UEFA-funded hotel room in Germany. In response to the release of the footage, the Professional Game Match Officials Limited (PGMOL) stated that Coote has been suspended pending a full investigation, emphasizing his well-being as a top priority.

A PGMOL statement: “We aware of the allegations and are taking them very seriously. David Coote remains suspended pending a full investigation. David’s welfare continues to be of utmost importance to us…” (1/2)

Furthermore, UEFA has also suspended Coote following his inappropriate behavior, including a separate incident involving a social media video where he made derogatory remarks about Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp.

Coote, a seasoned referee with nearly 500 professional games under his belt, has officiated various matches across different levels of football. Despite his experience, his recent actions have raised concerns and led to his suspension from officiating duties.

Coote’s future as a referee remains uncertain as investigations into his conduct continue. His reputation, built over years of officiating high-profile matches, now hangs in the balance due to these recent controversies.
