English fast bowler Gus Atkinson made headlines with his remarkable century at the historic Lord’s stadium during the second Test against Sri Lanka. Batting at No.8, the 26-year-old contributed 116 runs to England’s total of 427 on the second day of the match.

Atkinson’s incredible innings not only marked his highest-ever score in cricket but also earned him praise and recognition from all corners. His achievement even secured him a place on the prestigious Lord’s Honours Board for batting.

It’s quite extraordinary to see a fast bowler like Atkinson being recognized for his batting prowess at Lord’s, showcasing his versatility on the cricket field.

Exploring the Lord’s Honours Boards

The Lord’s Honours Boards commemorate iconic performances at Lord’s Cricket Stadium, with players earning a place for scoring a century (Test or ODI), taking a 5-wicket haul in an inning (Test or ODI), or achieving a 10-wicket haul in a Test match.

While Atkinson has achieved a rare feat of featuring on all three Honours Boards at Lord’s, many legendary batters have never managed to secure a spot on the batting list.

Top Batters Who Haven’t Scored a Test Century at Lord’s

Sachin Tendulkar

Despite his illustrious career, Sachin Tendulkar never scored a Test century at Lord’s during his 24-year tenure in international cricket. Tendulkar’s highest score at the venue stands at 37.

Ricky Ponting

Australian great Ricky Ponting also couldn’t register a Test century at Lord’s, with his highest Test score being 42 at the iconic ground. However, Ponting did achieve a century in an ODI match at Lord’s in 2005.

Jacques Kallis

South African superstar Jacques Kallis, with 45 Test centuries to his name, also fell short of making it to the Lord’s Honours Board for batting. Kallis’ highest score at Lord’s was 31.
