Lydia Ko, the three-time Olympic medalist, secured a gold medal in the women’s golf individual competition at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. Ko shot a final-round 71 to finish 10-under par, two shots ahead of silver medalist Esther Henseleit of Germany. China’s Xiyu Lin earned bronze with a final score of 7-under par.
Ko, who has previously won silver at Rio 2016 and bronze at Tokyo 2020, now adds a gold medal to her Olympic collection.
Ko stays in control
During the tournament, Ko focused on her game by deleting her Instagram and watching the Simone Biles documentary, “Rising.” Inspired by Biles’ quote, Ko emphasized the importance of controlling what she can in her career.
Despite facing challenges in previous Olympics, Ko took control in Paris and secured the gold medal with a strong performance.
Ko’s victory not only earned her a gold medal but also secured her a spot in the LPGA Hall of Fame. With 20 LPGA Tour wins, including two major victories, Ko continues to establish herself as a golfing legend.
