Zion Williamson continues to be sidelined as he recovers from a hamstring injury, with the New Orleans Pelicans announcing that he will be out for at least another two weeks. The star player has only played in six games this season and has been dealing with the injury since November 6.
The initial prognosis was for Williamson to miss four to six weeks, but his recovery has taken longer than expected. ESPN’s Shams Charania recently reported that Williamson is likely to be out until mid-December or possibly longer.
The Pelicans, who drafted Williamson as the No. 1 overall pick in 2019, have had to cope with his absence, along with injuries to other key players like Dejounte Murray, Trey Murphy III, C.J. McCollum, Jordan Hawkins, and Herb Jones. The team’s record has suffered as a result, with 15 losses in their last 16 games and a 4-18 overall record.
Despite facing multiple setbacks, the Pelicans are hopeful as some players, like Jones and Brandon Ingram, are returning to full health. However, Jose Alvarado will be out for at least two more weeks with a hamstring strain.
The team is gearing up to face the Phoenix Suns on Thursday in New Orleans.
