Savinho, the 20-year-old winger, has quickly made an impression at Manchester City since his summer move to the Etihad Stadium, earning praise from manager Pep Guardiola.
The Brazilian talent joined City in July from Troyes, a partner club in the City Football Group, after a successful loan spell at Girona where he scored 11 goals in 41 appearances during the 2023/24 season.
In his 11 appearances for City so far, he has provided four assists but has yet to score a goal of his own.
Despite his room for growth, Guardiola has high expectations for Savinho, believing he has the potential to become one of the best players at the club.
“What I admire about him is his desire to be the best,” Guardiola told reporters. “He is always willing to try new things, get involved in every aspect of the game, and keep pushing himself.”
“He may not be scoring goals yet, but he’s not afraid to take shots,” Guardiola added. “In a recent free-kick situation against Wolves, he was eager to step up. He’s young, ambitious, and I believe he has what it takes to succeed.”
Currently, City is in second place in the Premier League standings, just behind Liverpool, and will face Southampton in their upcoming match. Southampton, who are still seeking their first win of the season, will be looking to make an impact against Guardiola’s team.
As for Savinho, he will be aiming to open his scoring account when City takes on Russell Martin’s side.
