Muhammad Mokaev is facing a challenging period in his career.
After being released by the UFC following his win at UFC 304, Mokaev’s future prospects took another hit when PFL president Ray Sefo stated that PFL is not interested in signing him.
Sefo commented, “I’ve spoken to people that are in the know and apparently he’s just a pain in the ass to deal with. And so, no, we’re not interested.”
Mokaev responded to these developments later on X.
Despite being ranked No. 10 in MMA Fighting’s global rankings, Mokaev’s contract with the UFC ended after UFC 304, and Dana White confirmed that the UFC is not looking to re-sign him.
White stated, “The matchmakers aren’t big fans of his for many different reasons.”
He added, “I think the PFL’s going to get a great undefeated guy. Good luck to him.”
Leading up to UFC 304, Mokaev was involved in a physical altercation with his opponent Manel Kape both at the UFC Performance Institute and the host hotel in Manchester.
While Mokaev won the fight, White emphasized that his behavior during the event was just one factor in the decision not to re-sign him.
White explained, “There was so much bad shit that happened behind the scenes with that thing.”
He continued, “Listen, the stuff that played out here over the last several months that started at the [UFC Performance Institute] and other stories of this breaking out, plus many other things — these guys [UFC matchmakers] don’t want to re-sign him.”
In response to White’s comments, Mokaev took to social media to express his desire to continue pursuing his dream of becoming a UFC champion.
“I hope Dana re-signs me,” Mokaev posted.
