PGA Tour commissioner Jay Monahan said negotiations with LIV Golf are still ‘in a good place’ despite lack of a deal

The negotiations between the PGA Tour and LIV Golf seem to be at a standstill, with no deal in sight.

Despite being past their initial deadline, Tour commissioner Jay Monahan mentioned that discussions with Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund are complex and ongoing. While progress is being made, there is still much to be debated and decided.

The recently released 2025 schedule by the Tour does not include LIV Golf, indicating that the two leagues will likely operate separately next season.

Last season, Monahan surprised many by announcing a partnership with LIV Golf, but the agreement has yet to be finalized. A deadline was missed, prompting the formation of a subcommittee to handle negotiations with the PIF.

Although a deal is not off the table, it appears that there is still a long way to go before any concrete agreement is reached.

Patrick Cantlay, a member of the Tour’s policy board, noted that discussions have quieted down in recent months, but the work continues to reach the best possible outcome for all parties involved.

LIV Golf is gearing up for its West Virginia tournament this weekend, with events scheduled in September to conclude the 2024 season. The top performers in the Tour’s standings will advance to the BMW Championship and ultimately the Tour Championship to wrap up the season.
