Liverpool responded emphatically to their weekend defeat by securing a 3-1 victory over Milan in their first Champions League match under Arne Slot. The game saw Liverpool’s center-backs, Ibrahima Konate and Virgil van Dijk, shine as they both found the back of the net after Christian Pulisic had given Milan an early lead. Dominik Szoboszlai added a third goal for Liverpool in the second half, sealing an important win in the revamped Champions League.

The match started with Milan taking the lead after just three minutes, but Liverpool quickly bounced back with Konate equalizing in the 23rd minute. Van Dijk then put Liverpool ahead just before halftime with a close-range header. The visitors continued to dominate in the second half, with Szoboszlai securing the victory with a well-worked goal.

Liverpool’s evening could have been even better, with Jota and Nunez missing chances, but the team had already done enough to secure three vital points in their Champions League campaign. The victory was a testament to the team’s resilience and determination to bounce back from their recent domestic setback.

The player ratings highlighted the standout performances from Liverpool’s players, with Cody Gakpo earning the title of Player of the Match for his impactful display. Arne Slot also received praise for his tactical approach and the team’s ability to control the game after a shaky start.

Overall, it was a convincing performance from Liverpool, showcasing their strength and character as they kicked off their Champions League campaign in style.
