English Football Association charges Preston North End striker Milutin Osmajić with “violent conduct” for allegedly biting Blackburn Rovers defender Owen Beck during a Championship match.
The incident occurred in the 89th minute of Saturday’s game, with Beck reporting the bite to the referee after receiving a red card for a separate incident.
Osmajić received only a yellow card, despite Beck showing a bite mark on his neck post-match, as confirmed by Blackburn manager John Eustace.
“It’s a very serious incident,” Eustace told BBC Radio Lancashire. “It’s unfortunate the referee didn’t witness it, but it highlights how emotions can escalate on the field.”
The FA has given Osmajić and Preston until Monday to respond to the charges. Despite this, Osmajić is set to play in the upcoming match against Millwall, as confirmed by manager Paul Heckingbottom.
In past cases, players like Souleymane Doukara and Luis Suárez have faced significant bans for biting incidents on the field, emphasizing the severity of such behavior in football.
