The Chelsea manager, Enzo Maresca, expressed satisfaction with his team’s performance following a dominant 5-1 victory over Shamrock Rovers, securing a flawless record in the Conference League group stage.
Leading the charge was Marc Guiu, who netted a first-half hat-trick to ensure Chelsea’s top spot in the group, granting them a break from competition until March.
Accompanying Chelsea in the top eight qualifiers for the last 16 are Vitoria, Fiorentina, Rapid Vienna, Djurgarden, Lugano, Legia Warsaw, and Cercle Brugge.
Maresca commended his players, stating, “I am delighted with both the performances and results. The professionalism displayed by the team is commendable and sets the right precedent.”
“From the outset, we have prioritized sharing minutes among players – tonight was an opportunity for our young talents.”
“Josh Acheampong and Tyrique George may be young, but their contributions have been impressive.”
Concern for Guiu
Guiu capitalized on defensive errors to secure his hat-trick, positioning himself at the top of the Conference League’s goal-scoring chart with a remarkable header.

The young forward has been prolific in the Conference League with six goals, despite limited Premier League appearances.
Maresca acknowledged Guiu’s frustration, noting, “Marc is feeling a bit disheartened due to the form of Nicolas Jackson and Christopher Nkunku.”
“Competition for the striker position can be challenging, but perseverance and hard work will be rewarded.”
“While we aim to retain our squad in January, players seeking more game time may express discontent.”
“The upcoming transfer window will dictate our decisions moving forward.”
