The Boston Red Sox have inked a long-term deal with second baseman Kristian Campbell, keeping him with the team through the 2032 season with options for 2033 and 2034, as reported by ESPN’s Jeff Passan. The contract is valued at $60 million.
Campbell, a fourth-round pick in the 2023 MLB Draft, made his debut on Opening Day this season. The infielder was ranked as the No. 6 overall prospect by MLB Pipeline. He has started the season strong with six hits in 16 at-bats, including a home run and two RBI.
In 2024, Campbell excelled in Boston’s farm system, posting a slash line of .330/.439/.558 in 115 games across different levels. He showcased his power and speed by hitting 20 home runs and stealing 24 bases.
Recently, the Red Sox also secured pitcher Garrett Crochet with a lucrative six-year, $170 million extension, showing their commitment to their young talent.
Despite their offseason moves, the Red Sox have struggled out of the gate with a 1-4 record, placing them at the bottom of the AL East standings.
