Collin Morikawa came up short in his quest for a win at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, as Russell Henley surged ahead to claim victory at Bay Hill Club and Lodge in Orlando, Florida.
Henley’s clutch chip-in on the back nine helped him secure a one-shot win over Morikawa, marking his first victory on Tour since the 2022 World Wide Technology Championship. The win also ended a streak of 10 top-10 finishes for Henley without a win, the most on the PGA Tour in that timeframe.
“It’s unbelievable,” Henley said on NBC. “Hats off to Collin, he played great today. He played super steady. Sometimes golf is just mean like that.”
Henley’s victory, his fifth career win, came after more than 850 days since his last triumph. He now has four top-10 finishes in six starts this season, including strong showings at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am and the Cognizant Classic.
Meanwhile, Morikawa, who had a two-shot lead with five holes to play, finished with an even-par 72 on Sunday. Despite his strong performance, Morikawa has not won since the 2023 Zozo Championship.
Corey Conners finished in third place, earning a spot in the British Open, while Michael Kim, Keegan Bradley, and Sepp Straka rounded out the top five at the Arnold Palmer Invitational.
Next up on the PGA Tour schedule is The Players Championship at TPC Sawgrass before the Masters in April.
