The Pittsburgh Steelers have unveiled their initial depth chart ahead of their first preseason game against the Houston Texans this Friday. Not surprisingly, Russell Wilson has been named the starting quarterback over Justin Fields.

Wilson has been dealing with a calf injury that sidelined him for the Steelers’ first four practices. He only fully participated in practice on July 30th.
Meanwhile, Justin Fields has been impressive during Wilson’s absence, showcasing the talent that made him a first-round pick in 2021 by the Chicago Bears. Head Coach Mike Tomlin has praised Fields’ performances during training camp.
Although there seems to be a quarterback competition brewing, especially given Fields’ strong showing, it is likely that Wilson will be the starter for the Steelers in Week 1, barring any unforeseen circumstances.
