The teams for the upcoming Presidents Cup have been finalized.
Captains Jim Furyk and Mike Weir made their six captain’s picks each on Tuesday to complete their squads for the event later this month.
The automatic qualification period for the biennial tournament concluded after the BMW Championship for both the U.S. team and the non-European international team. Scottie Scheffler led the way for the United States, securing his spot after a successful season that culminated in a win at the Tour Championship. Other automatic qualifiers for the U.S. team included Xander Schauffele, Collin Morikawa, Wyndham Clark, Patrick Cantlay, and Sahith Theegala, who finished third at the Tour Championship despite a penalty in his third round.
Hideki Matsuyama led the international team, with Tom Kim, Sungjae Im, Jason Day, Adam Scott, and Ben An rounding out the top six.
The Presidents Cup is scheduled to begin on Sept. 26 at the Royal Montreal Golf Club in Quebec, Canada. The U.S. team has dominated the event in recent years, winning the last nine editions and holding a 12-1-1 all-time record.
United States captain’s picks
Keegan Bradley, Sam Burns, Tony Finau, Brian Harman, Russell Henley, Max Homa
One of the notable picks by Jim Furyk is Keegan Bradley, who secured his place on the team with a win at the BMW Championship. Bradley, who was already named a captain’s assistant, expressed his desire to play at the Ryder Cup next year.
Sam Burns, Tony Finau, Brian Harman, Russell Henley, and Max Homa complete the U.S. team, each bringing their own strengths and experience to the squad.
International captain’s picks
Corey Conners, Taylor Pendrith, Mackenzie Hughes, Christiaan Bezuidenhout, Si Woo Kim, Min Woo Lee
With no Canadians qualifying automatically, Mike Weir selected three Canadian players for the team. Corey Conners, Mackenzie Hughes, and Taylor Pendrith join the international squad, along with Christiaan Bezuidenhout, Si Woo Kim, and Min Woo Lee.
The international team is looking to make an impact against the dominant U.S. team at the upcoming Presidents Cup.
