The Houston Texans have encountered a setback before their upcoming game against the Chicago Bears in the Hall of Fame tilt. Defensive end Denico Autry has been suspended by the NFL for six games due to a violation of the league’s performance enhancing substances policy.
Autry, who is entering his tenth season in the league, expressed surprise at the news of his suspension. He stated that he has never used performance enhancing drugs throughout his NFL career and was shocked to learn about the positive test result.
In a statement, Autry said, “I have never engaged in the use of performance enhancing drugs in my ten-year NFL career. I was stunned to learn about the positive result from one of my tests this offseason.”
Despite the unexpected suspension, Autry acknowledged the presence of PEDs in his system and accepted the league’s punishment. He explained that the pharmacy had mistakenly provided him with a prescription containing the banned substance, unbeknownst to him.
Autry also issued an apology to the Texans organization, his teammates, and the fans for any distraction caused by the incident. He reassured fans of his continued commitment to performing at his best and looks forward to returning to the field.
With Autry sidelined, Mario Edwards Jr. and Tim Settle are expected to take on more responsibility during training camp and the early part of the season. While this situation presents a challenge for the Texans, it is not insurmountable.
The absence of Autry will test the team’s depth and resilience, but it is an opportunity for other players to step up and showcase their abilities. As the Texans navigate through this adversity, they remain focused on their ultimate goal of success on the field.
