William Saliba is on the verge of making Arsenal history by becoming the fastest player to reach 50 Premier League wins if the Gunners can secure a victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers this Saturday.
After joining Arsenal from Saint-Etienne in 2019, Saliba had to bide his time and gain experience on loan before finally making his Premier League debut three years later.
His first Premier League win came in Arsenal’s 2-0 victory over Crystal Palace at the start of the 2022/23 season, and now he is on the cusp of reaching the milestone of 50 wins if Arsenal can overcome Wolves in the upcoming match.
Should Saliba play a part in securing the win, he will break the record for the fewest appearances needed to reach 50 wins for Arsenal, with the match against Wolves being his 65th in the Premier League.
The current record is held by former Arsenal player Nacho Monreal, who achieved the milestone in 70 matches.
Several former Arsenal players, including Kolo Toure, Sol Campbell, and Edu Gaspar, achieved 50 wins in 72-73 matches during their time at the club.
Among the current Arsenal squad, Aaron Ramsdale, Ben White, and Martin Odegaard are the closest to challenging the record, with manager Mikel Arteta also achieving the milestone in 77 matches during his playing days at Arsenal.
If Saliba secures his 50th win this weekend, he will rank joint-12th in the all-time Premier League list.
Players like Phil Foden, Aymeric Laporte, Didier Drogba, and Arjen Robben have achieved 50 wins in around 59-61 games, placing them just ahead of Saliba in the list.
Other notable players like Gabriel Jesus, Bernardo Silva, Ederson, Alisson, Petr Cech, and Nemanja Vidic have reached the milestone in 62-64 matches, with Saliba set to join them in the rankings.
