Alexa Grasso suffered a defeat against Valentina Shevchenko in a head-to-head matchup, but her team emerged victorious in the latest episode of The Ultimate Fighter 32.
Despite Shevchenko’s win in the Coaches Challenge, Team Grasso’s Kaan Ofli secured a quick victory over Team Bullet’s Roedie Roets to advance to the TUF 32 finals with a guillotine choke submission in Round 1.
Ofli demonstrated his preparedness against Roets’ wrestling, showcasing his skills with a swift submission victory.
Awaiting the winner of another featherweight semifinal, Ofli is set to face either his teammate Mairon Santos or Team Bullet’s Zygimantas Ramaska.
In the Coaches Challenge, Grasso and Shevchenko competed in a basketball shooting contest, with Shevchenko emerging victorious by strategically scoring from shorter distances.
The coaches were vying for a prize of $10,000, along with $2,000 for each of their fighters.
The competition quickly turned in Shevchenko’s favor as she accumulated points efficiently, securing a significant lead over Grasso by the end of the contest.
In another twist, semifinalist Ramaska faces uncertainty due to a facial fracture but remains hopeful of competing pending medical clearance.
Next week, Team Grasso’s Paddy McCorry and Robert Valentin will compete for a spot in the middleweight finals.
The Ultimate Fighter 32 airs every Tuesday at 10 p.m. ET on ESPN+.
Following the season finale, Grasso and Shevchenko are slated for a flyweight championship trilogy bout at UFC 306 on Sept. 14 in Las Vegas.
The TUF 32 tournament finalists will compete for a UFC contract at the live finale event, with the date yet to be announced.
