Despite recent momentum, a deal between the PGA Tour and LIV Golf is not expected to materialize anytime soon, according to PGA Tour commissioner Jay Monahan. Speaking at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, Monahan stated that there are no scheduled meetings with Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF) and that an announcement of their partnership deal is not anticipated at The Players Championship next week.
The negotiations between the Tour and the PIF have been ongoing for nearly two years, with discussions intensifying in recent months following meetings with President Donald Trump. Monahan remains optimistic about the progress, emphasizing that the meeting at the White House was a significant step forward.
While reunification of the golf world remains a key issue, Monahan highlighted that the Tour is committed to unifying the game. Fan surveys have shown positive support for reunification, with the league striving to achieve this goal effectively and prudently.
