The TGL indoor golf league continued its strong streak of matches on Tuesday night with a showdown between Rickie Fowler’s New York Golf Club and Tiger Woods’ Jupiter Links Golf Club. New York came out on top, dominating Jupiter with a final score of 10-3.
This marked Woods’ first public appearance on the golf course since the passing of his mother last week. After withdrawing from the Genesis Invitational to grieve, Woods made a return to play alongside Kevin Kisner and Tom Kim against Fowler, Cameron Young, and Matt Fitzpatrick.
Despite New York GC being the underdog with a 0-2 record, they took a commanding lead early on, winning eight out of the first eight holes. Both teams utilized TGL’s hammer rules to their advantage, with New York extending their lead to 8-0 through eight holes.
Individual moments of excellence shone through, with Fowler and Kisner making impressive plays. The match took a comedic turn when Woods mistakenly thought he was 99 yards away from the pin and hit a shot 100 yards.
The night ended with New York securing a decisive victory over Jupiter with a final score of 10-3. The win marked a significant turnaround for NYGC, setting a positive tone for the remainder of the season.
Looking ahead, TGL continues to gain momentum with exciting matchups and celebrity appearances. Fans can catch the next matches on ESPN2 next Monday, featuring Los Angeles vs. New York and Boston vs. Atlanta.
