Tony Ferguson vs. Dillon Danis is confirmed to be on the Global Fight League’s upcoming fight card.
Recently, the GFL and Ferguson officially announced their plans for a highly-anticipated showdown between the former UFC interim lightweight champion and the ex-Bellator prospect, Danis. The bout is scheduled to take place at lightweight (165 pounds in the GFL) on a date and venue that will be disclosed soon.
GFL founder Darren Owen hinted at this exciting matchup earlier this year during an interview on Uncrowned’s “The Ariel Helwani Show” following the GFL’s inaugural MMA draft.
“We aim to deliver the fights that fans want to see, and we are considering all possibilities. Tony Ferguson vs. Dillon Danis is one of those matchups that could become a reality,” Owen stated. “As a passionate MMA enthusiast, I am dedicated to creating thrilling matchups that resonate with the audience.”
Ferguson (25-11) is a respected figure in the MMA world, having previously been a top contender in the UFC lightweight division. Despite a recent string of losses leading to his departure from the UFC in 2024, Ferguson’s career highlights include an impressive 12-fight win streak, tying him with Khabib Nurmagomedov for the second longest win streak in UFC lightweight history.
Meanwhile, Danis (2-0) is gearing up for an eventful year ahead. The controversial fighter is scheduled to face KSI in a boxing match under the Misfits Boxing banner on March 29 before stepping back into the MMA cage against Ferguson.
In his most recent outings, Danis suffered a disqualification loss to Logan Paul in boxing in October 2023 and secured a first-round submission victory over Max Humphrey in Bellator back in 2019.
