Manchester United has activated Tottenham forward Celin Bizet’s release clause as she nears a move to the north before the summer transfer window closes.
The 22-year-old was a key player for Spurs last season, helping them make history by reaching the FA Cup final against Manchester United in May.
Both parties are aiming to finalize the deal before United’s pre-season training camp in Marbella next week, according to BBC Sport. Bizet has reportedly undergone a medical at United after the club triggered her release clause for around £600,000.
Bizet made the switch from Paris Saint-Germain to Tottenham before the 2023/24 season. She started her youth career at hometown club Skedsmo before making her professional debut in the Norwegian third tier at the age of 14.
Bizet has represented Norway at every youth level and scored on her senior debut at 19 during a FIFA Women’s World Cup qualifying match against Armenia in Yerevan.
Tottenham made significant progress last season under head coach Robert Vilahamn and will likely feel the impact of losing Bizet. However, the recent addition of Australian international Hayley Raso over the weekend may help soften the blow.
Bizet is a young talent with a promising future, which may have been a key factor in her decision to join United. Despite facing controversy this summer, the club has announced several exciting signings, including Simi Awujo, Dominique Janssen, Melvine Malard, Anna Sandberg, and Elisabeth Terland.
Manager Marc Skinner will be looking to United’s new recruits to help improve on their disappointing league performance last season, where they finished fifth.
