Tottenham’s Europa League campaign kicks off as they host Azerbaijani champions Qarabag at N17 on Thursday night.
After finishing fifth in Ange Postecoglou’s first season in charge, Spurs are back in the Europa League, hoping to erase the memory of their humiliating defeat to Dinamo Zagreb in the 2020/21 season.
Dinamo Zagreb denied Qarabag a spot in the Champions League this season, defeating them 5-0 over two legs in the play-offs.
Qarabag is in good form, with three consecutive wins heading into the match, while Spurs are riding high after a 3-1 win over Brentford.
While a win on Matchday 1 is not essential in the new league phase, it presents a great opportunity for Spurs to start strong.
Here’s a preview of Thursday’s Europa League clash by 90min.
