The UFC made a significant announcement on Tuesday, revealing two new additions to the upcoming UFC 300 card. The highlight of the event will be a BMF title bout between Justin Gaethje and Max Holloway. Additionally, seasoned fighters Jim Miller and Bobby Green will face off in a lightweight matchup on the same card.
Gaethje, the current BMF title holder, will defend his title against Holloway in a five-round lightweight battle. This fight will serve as the co-headliner for UFC 300, which already features a women’s strawweight title bout between Yan Xiaonan and champion Zhang Weili. The event is scheduled to take place on April 13 in Las Vegas.
Interestingly, Gaethje had previously criticized the BMF belt, referring to it as “kind of stupid.” Despite his initial reservations, he will now defend the title against Holloway, a former featherweight champion known for his impressive record. Gaethje, ranked No. 2 in the UFC lightweight division, will face off against Holloway, the No. 1 contender in the featherweight division and the 13th-ranked pound-for-pound fighter in the UFC.
Holloway, who lost his featherweight title to Poirier in 2019, will be moving up a weight class to take on Gaethje in what promises to be a highly anticipated matchup. UFC fans can expect an electrifying showdown between these two talented fighters at UFC 300.
