The countdown to UFC 306 has officially begun.
On Thursday, UFC unveiled the official poster for the highly anticipated event on Sept. 14. The main event will feature UFC bantamweight champion Sean O’Malley defending his title against No. 1 contender Merab Dvalishvili, while UFC women’s flyweight champion Alexa Grasso will face off against Valentina Shevchenko in a trilogy bout in the co-main event.
The event will take place at the Sphere, a cutting-edge venue in Las Vegas with a 16K-resolution wraparound screen and a seating capacity of 18,000 to 20,000 people. Check out the UFC 306 poster below.
UFC CEO Dana White has confirmed that UFC 306’s takeover of the Sphere will be a one-time event due to its record-breaking production costs. The pay-per-view event has already seen over $17 million in expenses, with ticket prices starting in the thousands. TKO Group Holdings CFO Andrew Schleimer believes that the event could generate the largest live gate in UFC history.
White recently shared plans for a Mexican Independence Day event that will pay homage to Mexican combat sports.
White discussed the elaborate production plans for UFC 306, which will showcase the history of combat in Mexico throughout the night, starting from the beginning of time to the future. This event will feature a 10-fight card, with more details available on the event lineup.
