Excitement is building as UFC 307 approaches.
The official poster for the highly anticipated pay-per-view event on Oct. 5 at Delta Center in Salt Lake City, Utah has been unveiled by the UFC. The main event will see Alex Pereira defending his light heavyweight title against Khalil Rountree Jr., while the co-main event will feature Raquel Pennington putting her bantamweight belt on the line against former champion Julianna Peña. The focus of the UFC 307 fight poster is on these two thrilling matchups.
Pereira is currently leading the race for 2024 Fighter of the Year, following successful title defenses against former champions Jamahal Hill and Jiri Prochazka at UFC 300 and UFC 303 respectively. Rountree is riding a five-fight winning streak, but has been out of action since last December due to a suspension for a failed drug test.
Pennington claimed the vacant women’s bantamweight title by defeating Mayra Bueno Silva at UFC 297 in January. This will mark her first title defense. Peña, on the other hand, shocked the MMA world by dethroning Amanda Nunes at UFC 269 in a major upset. However, she later lost the title back to Nunes in their rematch seven months later and has been inactive since.
In addition to the headline fights, UFC 307 will showcase a lineup of exciting matchups, including a bantamweight clash between Jose Aldo and Mario Bautista, a featherweight showdown featuring Movsar Evloev and Aljamain Sterling, a women’s bantamweight battle between Kayla Harrison and Ketlen Vieira, and a welterweight bout pitting Stephen Thompson against Joaquin Buckley, among others.
