Unai Emery, the manager of Aston Villa, expressed satisfaction with the determination displayed by his team in their comeback victory against West Ham in the FA Cup.
Despite falling behind 1-0 early in the match due to Lucas Paqueta’s goal, the Villans showcased resilience in the second half to overturn the scoreline in their favor.
Amadou Onana equalized in the 71st minute, followed by Morgan Rogers securing the winning goal five minutes later.
Although pleased with the overall performance, Emery acknowledged the need for improvement, especially in avoiding conceding early goals.
Emery stated: “Happy, but we were aiming to avoid conceding easy goals, which unfortunately happened early in the game.
“However, our response was commendable. We didn’t allow many chances thereafter. The players demonstrated their determination to succeed in the competition.
“While we have been conceding goals frequently, our primary objective remains winning matches.”
“We strive to maintain a strong home record and continue our consistent performance throughout the season. We controlled the game effectively and responded well to the situation.”
🗣️ “We create mayhem in the attacking third.”

“Determining the next opponent is crucial for us now. We are competing in three different competitions and aim to make an impact in the Champions League, Premier League, and FA Cup.”
Morgan Rogers, the hero of the match, conveyed his belief in Aston Villa’s ability to win the prestigious trophy and end their title drought.
Rogers remarked: “With a bit of belief and patience, we displayed a more attacking approach. Our goals stemmed from creating chaos in the final third.
“We have the confidence to stage comebacks against any opponent. While we need to address our slow starts, we are content with our strong finishes.
“There’s no reason why we can’t win the FA Cup. Anything is possible in a cup competition, and the unpredictability of the draw adds to the excitement.”
